The 7 Days 6 Nights Trip to Merzouga Desert is an intense experience that allows the traveler to enjoy a great part of the landscape, geography and lifestyle of the most beautiful country in North Africa, Morocco.
The tour takes you from urban Marrakesh to the Berber villages perched on the hillsides along the Atlas Mountains, where they frequently change color and shape, making every corner of the road new. the road continues through beautiful little oases before reaching the huge palm grove in the Ziz Valley. After arriving in Merzouga, the tour includes a camel ride of approximately 40 minutes during the majestic sunset to reach the Bedouin tents in a bivouac behind the sand dunes. You will have the opportunity to visit many places of interest along the way, including the beautiful kasbahs in Ouarzazate, Ait Ben Haddou and some movie spots before returning to Marrakesh.
day 1 : Marrakesh city
After your arrival in Marrakesh, we will meet you at the airport and then transfer to the hotel with the possibility of a first short tour of the famous Jamaâ El Fna Square and accommodation.
Day 2: Marrakesh - Kasbah Telouet - Ait Ben Haddou - Ounila Valley - Ouarzazate
The trip starts at 08:30 in the morning in the direction of Ouarzazate through the High Atlas Mountains, passing through Tizi N Tichka, which rises 2,260 meters above sea level, which is the highest point in the country, where we will enjoy landscapes like never before. And we will stop several times to take pictures of villages Berbers. After that, we will head along a small road enjoying the beautiful scenery that surrounds it until we reach Kasbah Telouet, we will visit the Kasbah and enjoy a typical meal from the city. In the afternoon we will continue through the Ounila Valley between Berber villages where families live in mud-brick houses high in the mountains until we reach the fortified city of Ait Ben Haddou, where we will visit the famous Kasbah (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986). Many famous movies were shot in this amazing place, such as Gladiator, Obelix, Sahara with Penélope Cruz…etc. After visiting the Kasbah, we will head directly to the city of Ouarzazate, where we will have dinner and accommodation in hotels
Day 3: Ouarzazate - Draa Valley - Merzouga Desert
After breakfast we will head straight to the famous Dora Valley where we will see one of the longest rivers in Morocco. We will stop several times to find out some information about the adobe kasbahs and Berber villages, take pictures and enjoy the landscapes that spread out on the way and the wonders of Draa valley. After lunch in Neqoub , we will continue our two-hour drive until we reach the magnificent Merzouga Dunes “Soft Sand Dunes Desert” after which we will ride on camels instead of the car in order to enter the sand dunes and marvel at the amazing and unforgettable sunsets. We will arrive with the gables at the camp, where we will stay in “tents made of camel hair” such as those used by the nomads. Dinner and night in the heart of the desert under a stunning blanket of stars and the indescribable calm of the desert
4 day: Merzouga - Erg Chebbi - Merzouga
This stage will start right after breakfast, where we will pass through another of the tracks used in the “Paris-Dakar Rally”, visit the Bedouins of the desert with whom we will drink mint tea and watch the oasis where some films such as “Sahara” were shot. Starring Penelope Cruz. We will also visit the town of Al-Soud, named after the slave trade they brought from Sudan. And then back to the hotel.
Day 5 : Merzouga Desert - Rissani- Tinghir- Dadis valley
You should wake up before sunrise to enjoy the magic of sunrise over the golden dunes of the Merzouga desert. There you will see what distinguishes the Rissani area from the rest of the regions culturally and historically. And if we have the opportunity we will visit the Fossil Museum in Erfoud. Then we will head directly to Todgha straits to discover its beauty, enjoy its breeze and take souvenir photos. Then we will enjoy a lunch in the most luxurious hotels in Tinghir and take a break, then make our way to Oued Dades and there is a host of surprises waiting for you.
Day 6: Dadis Valley - Valley of Roses - Skoura Palm Grove - High Atlas - Marrakech
After breakfast, we can enjoy one of the best views of the Dades Valley. We will do it from one of the most strategic places the mountains offer us. From there we will be able to observe the many stalactites and how beautiful each is, and then head towards a path spread by many stalactites of great importance. After several stops to enjoy the path of a thousand kasbahs, the Valley of Roses, and the great palm grove of Skoura we will arrive in Ouarzazate and visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, the former residence of Ghallaoui or the Pasha of Marrakech, the cinema studios and the cinema museum if you are interested. Lunch in the village and in the afternoon we will leave again towards Marrakech and cross the mountain pass in Tizi Nteshka with a photo stop. Arrive in Marrakech around 6 pm, heading towards the hotel.
7 day: Marrakesh city
Visit Marrakesh with its old city, its main historical monuments (tombs and mosques), kasbahs, the famous Djemaa El Fna square, the Majorelle de Menara gardens … We will realize that Marrakesh is the capital of tourism with the amount of foreign visitors or citizens that we find in its streets. And the time refers to the transfer to the airport, the end of the trip.
